If you use the MyRadar app on an Android device, beware that it may be draining your battery even in the background.
From time to time I encounter phantom battery drain that I can't attribute to any one app. The Android battery usage screen doesn't help, since the top offenders are Google Play Services and Android System, rather than the name of the actual offending app.
I noticed that MyRadar would drain my battery extra fast while it was open, which is understandable given that the wind animation is graphically intensive. I decided to Force Stop the app and see what happened over the next 24 hours. Instant improvement! So I decided to uninstall the app completely and my battery life is back to where it should be.
It's a great app, but I found it to be way too much of a battery drain to keep on the phone regularly. If the app didn't run at all in the background, perhaps the issue would be solved.
